SafeWise statement 17 March 2020
Following the latest Government advice, we have taken the decision to suspend upcoming events, visits and bookings at SafeWise centres in Bournemouth and Weymouth until the end of the Easter holidays.
We will continue to closely review the ongoing situation and follow Government advice and guidance as it develops, and update our position as necessary.
Anyone that has booked on our Junior Safety Inspector family tours at Easter, or First Steps to Safety events in March and April will be contacted in the coming days and offered a refund or opportunity to rebook on a future event.
School bookings up to the Easter holidays have been postponed and are being re-arranged.
Room and facility hire at both SafeWise centres will be suspended from the end of Tuesday 17 March, and we are contacting customers to let them know that the centres are effectively closed at this time. Anyone booked onto a Driver Awareness Course with Dorset Police will be informed directly by the Driver Awareness Scheme about their course.
We are contacting our partners, including health, councils and emergency services, to make our facilities available to support the Corona Virus response effort if needed.
SafeWise staff will be keeping in regular touch with our volunteers, many of whom are over 70, to keep them up to date and check on their well-being.
We apologise for any inconvenience, but feel sure our customers and partners appreciate the need for us to take this course of action at this time.
Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns about a booking, refund or visit. Our phones and email will continue to be answered as staff work from home.
