SafeWise statement 1 April 2020
Following the latest Government advice, we have taken the decision to suspend upcoming events, visits and bookings at SafeWise centres in Bournemouth and Weymouth at the present time.
We will continue to closely review the ongoing situation and follow Government advice and guidance as it develops, and update our position as necessary.
Anyone that has booked on our Junior Safety Inspector family tours or First Steps to Safety events has been, or will be, contacted and offered a refund or opportunity to re-book on a future event.
School bookings up to the end of June have been postponed and are being re-arranged.
Room and facility hire at both SafeWise centres has been suspended and customers contacted to let them know that the centres are effectively closed at this time. Anyone booked onto a Driver Awareness Course with Dorset Police will be informed directly by the Driver Awareness Scheme about their course.
SafeWise staff are working hard to keep the charity running and preparing for the time when we can open our doors and welcome visitors on our skills for life programmes once again.
We have contacted our partners, including health, councils and emergency services, to make our facilities available to support the Corona Virus response effort if needed.
SafeWise staff are keeping in regular touch with our volunteers, some of whom are over 70, to keep them up to date and check on their well-being.
We apologise for any inconvenience, but feel sure our customers and partners appreciate the need for us to take this course of action at this time.
Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns about a booking, refund or visit. Our phones and email will continue to be answered as staff work from home.
