The popular Junior Safety Inspector (JSI) family event at SafeWise Bournemouth was given a special twist this week with support from a number of the charity’s key partners.
In addition to completing the usual quiz as families toured the full size street scene, house, bus, train and beach, they were also able to meet and chat to Dorset Police, Dorset & Wiltshire Fire, Network Rail, Scotia Gas Networks, SSE Networks, RNLI, ESET cyber safety St John Ambulance, Blue Cross and BCP Council’s Road Safety Team.
Grandmother Ann Herridge said: ‘Fantastic information at an appropriate level for a 5 year old and a 72 year old! Super pointers for me and great experience for Millie.’
Other feedback included comments such as: ‘I’ve never seen anything that is so interactive’, ‘All types of safety advice in one place. Wonderful staff!’, ‘There’s nowhere else like it to bring safety to life’, ‘[I liked the fact that there was] no rushing’, and ‘Excellent time had and very informative.’
SGN Stakeholder and Communities Manager Susan Day said: ‘What a super day – we were so pleased to be involved and be able to talk about gas safety to all these families.’
SafeWise CEO Rob Hattersley added: ‘The best thing about this event is seeing families learning Skills for Life together across the generations. Thanks so much to all our partners for their fantastic support to deliver this to so many visitors.’
Future JSI family events are planned for the summer holidays at both SafeWise centres in Bournemouth and Weymouth as the charity continues to grow.
