Following the latest Government advice, we have taken the decision to suspend upcoming events, visits and bookings at SafeWise centres in Bournemouth and Weymouth at the present time due to the Corona Virus pandemic.
New way of working for SafeWise
The impact if the pandemic has been huge, and SafeWise is not alone in finding the current situation very challenging. As a result, trustees have agreed a new operating model for SafeWise charity.
This will see SafeWise operate only one centre, in Bournemouth, to serve all Dorset and South Wiltshire, and move to an enhanced three strand delivery model of digital, outreach and centre-based experiences for its skills for life programmes.
SafeWise is handing the Weymouth building back to DWFRS on 9 October and the centre will not be re-opening before that date. After 9 October, the building will be handed back to DWFRS.
We understand that this is a much valued facility, and we are disappointed to do so but the charity can no longer afford to run it in the current climate and continue to survive. We are committed to delivering skills for life learning for the Weymouth community and the new operating model will allow SafeWise to do that.
Our key mission of delivering skills for life education has to be the charity’s priority right now and we are committed to doing that across Dorset, including Weymouth area schools.
Thanks to everyone that has supported us past and present at Weymouth. That includes schools, groups, families and other visitors plus centre hire customers, staff, partners, local businesses , our neighbours and local community, the fire station and Conifers next door and last, but no means least – and probably most importantly – our amazing volunteers.
If you wish to contact SafeWise at this time please email firstname.lastname@example.org in the first instance. Thank you.
